Goofball

Sometimes videos need no explanation...because there is none. Ryker has recently started this new thing where he shakes his head back and forth and quietly screams. It's hilarious.

Big Talker

A-goo-goo-ka-choo. This past week Kendyll found her voice. Her smiling and cooing is adorable. Repeating what she says keeps her going even more. If I recall, Ryker started giggling around 3-4 months, so hopefully we get to hear her laugh soon, too.

Big day!

Big girl and bigger boy. Kendyll had her 2 month well visit today. She's 16# and 24" long! Just like Ryker she's going to grow out of her infant carseat around 4 months. The limit on that is 22# - Ryker hit that at 4 months.

Ryker turned 15 months old today and went to daycare for the first time today, too! It was definitely harder on his mom than on him. I brought him to his room to find everyone was outside playing. When I asked him if he wanted to go outside, he made a bee-line for the door to the playground. Once the door was opened he just kept on going, never looking back. The director was stunned to see such an independent little guy, most kids his age don't handle separation too well. Way to go big guy!!

Bry, Kendyll, and I picked him up at 5 o'clock. We found him throwing the playground chips around with a scoop. (They use bark chips instead of sand) They said he used that scoop like a telephone earlier - cute! Kendyll was in her carseat sitting on the ground. Ryker came over and gave her a kiss - of course that aroused many oohs and ahhs from the teachers. Such a charmer. Overall he seemed to have a great experience and really didn't want to leave.

On his daily report, his teacher Emery said, "Had a great time outside playing in the playground, pushing the toy car around. Enjoyed the new friends, always cheerful, with a beautiful smile. He is a happy boy. :) We enjoyed having him with us!" His teacher also took some pictures for us to have at home of his first day.

Our little fish

Ryker graduated from his first swim class today. He got to ride in a kayak and go down the big waterslide with papa (which didn't go over too well). He's definitely more comfortable with the water than the first day, but has much to learn. He holds on to the side of the pool all by himself and can pull himself up and out. Probably one of the most important things just in case!
He'll start the next class next week.

Let them eat spaghetti

Sometimes a kid just needs to be a kid. I gritted my teeth, took off Ryker's shirt, and let him feed himself spaghetti. Yes, that's Juno eating the food off of the wall. (What you can't see is mom armed with paper towels and disinfectant!)

Happy 2 Month Birthday Kendyll!!

Growing fast! Once a mere 8 lbs, she has nearly doubled in weight...and size! Taking after her brother, she absolutely cannot get enough to eat and is growing like a weed. She's getting more alert every day grabbing anything close to her and batting at the toys hanging from her bouncy seat. She has an amazing tolerance for Ryker and his antics - we could all learn a lot from her! For the first couple of months she really needed to be held all of the time, but now she's happy if she can see or hear me. That makes working a bit easier, but I've learned to type one-handed pretty well anyway.

Happy Birthday big girl!

Big boys get big boy chairs

Ryker got his first Big Boy chair today and he absolutely loves it! (Thank you Auntie Jill!!) It felt like the right time since lately he's become quite the cuddlebug and can sit still to look at a book for a few minutes. He's always liked books, but often just looked at them on the ground. Of course my smart monkey pushed it next to the couch and immediately figured out how to use it as a stepstool to get up on the couch.
