Happy 5 Month Birthday Kendyll!!

Oh my has she grown! Our baby girl is working hard on sitting up on her own these past few days. As you can see by the video in my last post, she is very excitable, too. She's still waking mama up once or twice a night, but she goes back down to sleep pretty easily. A far cry (ha!) from what the six weeks were like. Still very tolerant of Ryker, she really enjoys watching her crazy brother run around the house. Ryker is maturing as well and doesn't feel compelled to smack her head or poke her eyes out every chance he gets. Time-outs have been very effective on him.

Kendyll is very strong and is rolling over from front to back very easily. She also loves to try to sit up from a lying position. She can't sit up yet, but looks like she's doing crunches. The ladies at her daycare call it baby pilates. :)

Kendyll gets really hungry late in the day but isn't taking to solids well. She just prefers the bottle. It's definitely harder to dedicate time to helping Kendyll eat more when there's another little one running around demanding attention. I keep trying, though.
She just talks up a storm if you give her a chance. She loves any time I can devote to her, but also fairly independent and is happy sitting in her chair or jumperoo watching her brother.

Happy Girl

New hobby: playing with feet.
Ryker loves to give her kisses.

Wonderful Day for a Baptism

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. Kendyll was very low key throughout the whole ceremony, even when water was being washed over her head. There were 4 other babies being baptized today - 3 boys and 1 other girl. The other babies looked tiny compared to her, but I'm guessing they had to be younger. This ceremony was different from Ryker's in that it was just a baptism, not a full service. It lasted just as long as a service, but it was more interactive and entertaining.

Although Ryker did well, he was not feeling well today. He ended up going to the urgent care doc this evening only to find out that he has a double ear infection and pink eye. Poor guy, he is just miserable.

Happy 3 Month Birthday Kendyll!!

The fourth trimester is now complete! I have no complaints. Kendyll as been a great baby. I always thought Ryker was a pretty good baby, but Kendyll is even more laid back. I thought for sure that with one good kid meant the second would be the opposite. I'm happy to report that is not the case; we feel very blessed in many ways with these two miracles. It helps a lot that we have a better idea of what we're doing this time around.

At Kendyll's 2 month appointment, which was really closer to 2.5 months, she was 16# 24". It's been a couple of weeks since that appointment and she definitely feels heavier than that. She's on her way to being big and tall like her brother! She tends to clusterfeed from about 5pm-8pm and that sets her up to sleep 6-7 hours. So mom is usually only getting up once per night these days. At this rate she'll need a new carseat soon. She'll also be growing out of her bassinet and will need a crib. We'll be shopping soon for her bedroom set and I guess I need to get a double stroller one of these days! It's nice enough to go for walks now. Kendyll hasn't had a stroller ride yet. Something tells me she won't mind at all.
She smiles a lot and we can get her going just by looking at her and saying "a-goo"; which is what she says. She seems to be happy that we're speaking her language. Overall, Kendyll just doesn't seem to mind much. The dogs barking, Ryker screaming, Ryker patting her head, Ryker kissing her, Ryker shaking the jumperoo that she's in...nothing seems to bother her. About the only thing that she doesn't like is a wet diaper or an empty stomach. Very low maintenance for a baby!

Jump-jump-jumperoo!

Kendyll is figuring out how to jump. I'm surprised at how long she can sit in there without fussing. She turns in the seat to look around the room - specifically at the bright windows. She bounces a little, but hasn't figured out how fun it can be to really jump in there. I used to think Ryker was going to scramble his brains the way he jumped in there! (Or get launched across the room!)

The second photo shows Ryker presenting the finer points of the Jumperoo to Kendyll. He doesn't want her to miss out on any of the fun. (Then he patted her on the head and poked her nose.)

Kendyll's Rules at 2 Months

Kendyll's Rules
To be amended at any point in time by Miss Kendyll, a.k.a. Princess.

1. As long as I eat constantly from 5 pm to 8 pm, I will sleep for 6 hours.

2. I only cry if I'm wet, have to burp, or am hungry. Low maintenance is my game...for now.

3. I like having a dry diaper, please change me often. I will not fuss at all while you change me, I promise.

4. I will give out warning signals that I'm hungry for 2 minutes before I start to cry. This is your only warning.

5. When I don't want any more milk, I will just use my own hands to push the bottle and/or your hand away. I find this form of communication the most efficient.
6. I realize he's my brother and there's not much you can do about his incessant running and yelling, but does he have to kiss me so much?

7. If you've behaved and I am dry, full, and awake. you will be rewarded with my adorable smiles and coos.

Big Talker

A-goo-goo-ka-choo. This past week Kendyll found her voice. Her smiling and cooing is adorable. Repeating what she says keeps her going even more. If I recall, Ryker started giggling around 3-4 months, so hopefully we get to hear her laugh soon, too.
